5 Ways to get rid of negativity

We are getting to that time of the year where things slow down and we can reflect on what we have been able to manifest in our lives and the intentions we would like to set for the rest of the year and beyond.

Fall is a great time to let go of what is no longer serving you so you can step into the new year with renewed energy and new intentions. While we naturally go through this process, sometimes without even being aware of it, we can sometimes get bogged down with negative energies.

Below are 5 ways to get rid of negative energy around you.

Cleanse your space and yourself: 

If you have been feeling tired and irritable and your space feels heavy and not welcoming, these are signs you need to cleanse yourself and your space.
I love to burn sage with a blend of lavender and rosemary. All three have wonderful cleansing and healing properties. First start with smudging yourself from head to toe asking Archangel Michael to assist you in cutting any cords to negative energy and to fill your aura with love and light. Next, open all the windows in your house and smudge every room affirming that your space is now filled with love, light, protection and peace. I like to visualize a beautiful purple/golden light all around me and enveloping my space. When you are done thank the angels for assisting you. You and your house should feel more at peace.

Get rid of all the clutter: 

I don’t know about you, but when I am around clutter for long periods of time I start to feel anxious and irritated. When your space is cluttered it disrupts the natural flow of energy. This allows energy in your space to become stuck and stagnant which throws off the balance of your space and you. Open your windows, put on some soothing music, and organize and de-clutter. You will notice almost instantly how much better your space will feel.


Meditating for just 10 minutes a day can balance your energy and heighten your vibration thus sloughing off negative energy. There are many amazing guided meditations on You Tube. Jason Stephenson and Michael Sealy have some amazing guided meditations, as well as Doreen Virtue’s angel meditations.

Do a simple full moon release ritual: 

Rituals are an amazing way to connect with the divine and your higher self. Rituals have been practiced for many years in many traditions. The most common/simple one is focusing on a wish before you blow out your birthday candles!
Your release ritual can be as complex or as simple as you want, all you need is intention to do so. I like to light some of my favorite incense and candles, then I meditate for a few minutes and write out a list of all the negative emotions, situations, and things that no longer serve me for my highest good on a piece of paper. I take my time with writing this and focus my intent on releasing these things from my life so I can move on, grow, and be all that I am meant to be. I usually ask the angels/spirit/spirit guides for assistance with this. After focusing on my list i take it outside say a little prayer and burn it. Then I thank my spiritual team for their assistance.

Take a purifying bath:

Taking a purifying bath is a great way to soak away any energies you have picked up throughout the day and who doesn’t enjoy a nice warm bath!? Use the recipe below and when you are done visualize all the negative energies being washed down the drain and your mind, body and spirit all in balance and filled with love and light.
1 Cup of dead sea salt
3 Drops of lavender essential oil
3 Drops of rosemary essential oil

You may also add things like rose petals, lavender flowers etc.

Exercise, proper diet, and a good nights rest are also a huge factor in how we feel. Do what you can to nurture your mind, body and spirit and the relationship between you and your higher self will be in perfect harmony!

How the ego can hold you back from your authentic self

Ego rules us at certain points of our lives. Nobody is immune to it… not even spiritual people. I find that some spiritual people can have a harder time with ego especially when going through an awakening because they tend to get a big head about being “enlightened” and sometimes gain a superiority complex over others. It’s all part of growing and shifting but some can get stuck. But that’s a whole different topic I will save for another post. 

I will start by saying the ego isn’t all bad, but there must be a balance or the ego can get out of control and cause some problems. 

Today we will focus on the ugly side of the ego. This part of the ego will often tell us that we can’t achieve certain things or make us scared to do so. Jealousy also stems from ego just as much as boasting about material items etc. Ego can also be defining your self worth and the worth of others based on superficial things like job titles, material possessions, etc. 

It’s important to remember that our higher selves always want us to move forward, constantly changing and growing. Our ego wants us to stay stuck. When we can rid ourselves of ego…we will find personal freedom. 

Here are some ways to let go of ego and focus on your true self. 

– When the words “I can’t” come into your head, quickly counteract that thought with a positive affirmation. Something like “I can do this…I am strong and deserving.” The great thing about affirmations is that you can say them in your mind as many times as you’d like. 

– When you feel jealous remember that everyone is on their own divine path. What may be great for them isn’t always great for you. Focus on the life you want and make it happen. Everything that happens or doesn’t is for your highest good. Just be patient. 

– Be aware of your intentions…always. Don’t do things just because it will make you “look good” and get praise. Always do things from the heart 

– Forgive others/ let go of unhealthy situations. When you hold grudges, it holds you back. Take back that energy your wasting and let that person/ situation go out of your life and wish them well. Most importantly, move on. 

The ego can and will show up in many forms. You can always defeat your ego by staying true to yourself and coming from a place of love. Be that beautiful, amazing, unique being that you are. 

A really great book for shedding the ego is. The 4 Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. I truly believe anyone and everyone will benefit by reading that book!

A simple ritual for the New Moon.

New moons are all about new beginnings, new projects, and making changes. We can tune into the energy of the new moon to help manifest positive change in our lives. It can be as simple or as complex as you’d like. It’s up to you. 

Here is a short simple ritual that anybody can do. 

What you will need:

  1. Piece of paper and a pen
  2. Candles
  3. Your favourite incense (optional) 
  4. Calming music

What to do: 

  1. Light some candles and incense… whatever relaxes you.
  2. Spend some time thinking about what positive things you would like to manifest in your life and write them down. 
  3. Focus on these things and visualize them happening. 
  4. Ask your angels and guides to help you achieve your goals and thank them. 
  5. Put the piece of paper in an envelope and keep it under your pillow. Or if you’d like you can put it on your vision board or manifestation box… whatever suits you. 
  6. Over the next few days send positive thoughts to the things you want to achieve.

Why you need to embrace your true self.

“The truth will set you free” 

We must always honour our authentic self. By being true to ourselves we can achieve complete freedom to be all we can be for our highest good.

Your authentic self is the true essence of your being. It is not defined by things like social standing, finances, career, education etc. 

Getting closer to your authentic self requires patience and commitment but I promise it will be the greatest gift you can give to yourself. 

Quite often, we drift away from our true selves because we are constantly doing things we are told we should be and shouldn’t be doing, staying in relationships to please others, staying at jobs we don’t like because we have been told that’s all we will amount to, not following our passions because of what others may think. The list goes on. The more we limit ourselves, the further we drift away from our potential. 

How to embrace your true self

– Stop doing things you don’t want to do. (And I’m not talking about the dishes)

– Stop doing things just to please others.

– Start following your dreams and passions.

– Stop going along with friendships and relationships just because its easier.

-Start doing things that make your soul sing

– Get in touch with your inner self

– Go out of your comfort zone

– Have faith in yourself

A little about 2016 

People seemed to face a lot of unpleasant things this year. As hard as 2016 was for many of you, it’s important to see that sometimes it all needs to come crashing down in order to clear out and make room for new growth and opportunities. 

According to numerology, 2016 was a “9” year meaning the end of a cycle, which was a fantastic opportunity to let go of what no longer serves us, tie up loose ends, create healthy boundaries for ourselves and prepare for the brand new energy 2017 will bring. While some may have floated through 2016 without any bumps, others sure felt the pressure of this year to get things done and face a lot of truths. If you had a hard time with just about every aspect of your life this year, don’t worry, it just means that your mind, body and spirit were doing a little “Spring Cleaning”. 

On a personal note, my year was full of spiritual and personal growth but I have to be honest…. it wasn’t comfortable by any means. I did my first level of Reiki in March and that’s what really tipped off my inward spiritual journey. ( For those who aren’t familiar with reiki it is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being.) I learned all sorts of new things about myself and began to perceive the world in a different way. It was wonderful. But it wasn’t long after that until I started to slough off events of the past that my conscious mind had forgotten about, but my subconscious was still very much aware of. This is called the healing process. 

I began to feel everything very deeply and it became overwhelming. I’ve always known I was sensitive but this was eye opening as to just how sensitive I am. Old things came up to the surface constantly. I spent a lot of time crying. I wasn’t feeling sorry for myself, it was a release of burried emotions from long ago. I spent most of my summer by myself which gave me lots of time to quietly transform into the next best version of myself. 

August came and I did my second level of Reiki. This one kicked my ass. I began rapidly growing and changing and with that I was also letting go of a lot of stuff that was sometimes beyond my level of understanding. I ended up breaking out in the worst cystic Acne. I felt ugly. People would come up to me at my job and ask if I had cancer or just blatantly ask what was wrong with my face. I had one person who said “good for you for being out in public looking like that”. The comments were awful and started to wear on my self esteem and eventually tore it all down. I became very insecure of what I looked like which also led to being very hard in myself every time I looked in the mirror. The last time I had felt that way about myself was when I was 15… ironic how it was all coming out now. I decided to start being a little gentler with myself. Accepting and loving myself just as I was at the moment. Slowly but surely things started to get better and quiet down. I started to see the lesson this year was trying to teach me. Even though my conscious mind may not fully understand the lessons I was given this year, I felt a calmness. I feel ready for new beginnings and opportunities. I feel an overwhelming amount of optimism in my life and am incredibly lucky to have such amazing people. So yes 2016 was a very tough year but I remained as positive as i could and had complete faith in myself that i would pull through. I feel i needed all these things to happen to take me where I need to be.

So don’t be afraid to clean out that closet. You will never know what you are capable of if you don’t give yourself room to grow. It is best not to fight the things that happen to you. Move with the current and open yourself to receive the wisdom the universe has to show you. You never know what could happen! And yes healing your emotional self etc is messy, uncomfortable, and scary at times but you must always trust in the universe and most importantly have trust in yourself. 

2017 is going to be a year of new energy and new beginnings. Focus on the things you want to manifest in your life and remember you deserve nothing but the best! 

No matter what you went through or didn’t go through this year, you are the key to your own happiness! And while some things are out of your control, you can control how you react and choose to let go of what doesn’t serve you for your highest good.

7 Things to remember when the going gets tough

We all face points in our lives that are less than ideal. Sometimes these situations are hard to get out of and have left us wounded emotionally. Below are a few ways to help you when you are going through a rough spot in your life. 

1. This will pass, nothing is permanent.

The only thing consistent thing in life is change. We are constantly evolving, growing, and changing and as we do this, many aspects of our life are subject to change also. If you are going through a tough time now, remind yourself that it will pass. Sometimes things fall away in your life so room can be made for amazing new things to happen. 

2. You are in control.

You may not be in control of every single thing that happens to you but you are in control of how you react to it. Don’t give away your personal power to negative situations in life. Rise above that and channel that energy to make the best of what you are given. 

3. Everything happens for a reason.

Sometimes we may not get certain things that we want or things may not always work out how we would like but take into consideration that everything happens for a reason. Some things we may want to work out don’t because they will not be good for us in the long run. 

4. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.

You don’t have to go through this alone. It’s okay to ask for help. We all need a little help in our lives. Confide in a friend, family member or counsellor to help get you back on the right track. 

5. “Just keep swimming” 

Keep on trying, remain positive and never give up. Keep pushing through! Eventually the sun will shine.

6. Be gentle with yourself

We are all learning valuable things here on earth. Some lessons are harder than others but it’s essential to our personal growth. When you find yourself in a rut don’t be hard on yourself. Instead, give yourself the time to just listen to what you need. Feel what you need to feel and let it go.

7. You aren’t alone

You are never alone. You are a child of the universe and are loved and supported. When you are feeling low, ask the angels to fill you with love and light. Your “spiritual team” is there for you always. 

No matter what you are going through please remember that you are amazing and have the strength to take on any problems you encounter. Brighter days are around the corner.

Being able to receive love and give love is a beautiful thing. Let the universe fill you with unconditional love and light. Close your eyes and feel this love all around you. The universe supports you and accepts you just as you are.

I am a firm believer that we aren’t given any challenges that we cannot handle and perception is everything. Challenges are there so we grow into the people we are supposed to be. How you look at life’s challenges is completely up to you. Just know you have the power inside to overcome anything.

5 Ways to raise your vibration


Keeping your vibration high is just as important as brushing your teeth. When our vibration is high, we radiate love and light and attract joy, happiness, good health and abundance. When your vibration is low, you can feel unhappy, pessimistic, hopeless and negative….and really who wants to feel that way? But we are only human and sometimes it is hard to keep our vibration in check. Below are some ways you can raise your vibration. 

1. Drink lemon water

Lemon water helps to balance our bodies pH levels and also aids in digestion and ridding the body of toxins. When your body is healthy your vibration runs high and you gotta admit, lemon water is pretty refreshing! 

2. Meditate 

Meditation is an important part of keeping that connection with the mind,body and spirit. It reduces stress and anxiety leaving you relaxed and feeling happy. There are some wonderful guided meditations on YouTube. Click here for a positive thinking meditation.

3. Take some time for yourself

It is so important to take time for yourself. Quite often we get so busy with life we forget that caring for ourselves is just as important as caring for others. Take some time to yourself doing something you like weather it be curling up with a cup of tea and a good book or taking a long luxurious bath with the bath bomb you have been dying to use! Everyone deserves to do something nice for themselves. It will relax you and give you the time you need to recouperate from the chaos that life sometimes brings. 

4. Pay it forward 

There is nothing that beats that wonderful feeling you get when you can do something kind for others. The world needs more people to spread love all around. It could be as simple as telling someone how nice they look or paying for someone’s coffee in the lineup at the coffee shop. Chances are that persons spirit will be lifted and they will want to do something nice for others also. Kindness is the gift that keeps on giving.

5. Be grateful for what you have 

It’s easy to get caught up in getting stressed out over things we don’t have or situations that are less than ideal, but we can’t have the positive without the negative. It’s balance. If you find yourself stressing about day to day thingsk, make a list of everything you are grateful for. When you focus on the positive, the negative things in life don’t seem to be so big and bothersome.

DIY Room Spray

This spray is perfect to freshen any space or room as well as raise the vibration of it. Any time you feel your space getting heavy or stagnant this is awesome to use!  There are many different essential oils you can combine that will make a lovely scent so feel free to play around with this. 

What you will need:

– 250ml spray bottle 

-250ml water 

– 10 drops of lavender essential oil (purifying, calming, emotional balance)

– 10 drops of rosemary essential oil (purifying, uplifting, cleansing, energy)

– 5 drops of frankincense essential oil (enlightenment, spirituality,uplifting)

– small rose quartz (optional) (universal stone of love) 
Fill spray bottle with water and then add the essential oil and crystal. Shake well and spray! It’s super simple.
